Enzo De Blasio is Helmsman/ Shipowner of the Year 2021 with his Italia Yachts 11.98 Scugnizza, won the coveted prize that FIV and Confindustria Nautica awarded in the splendid setting of Villa Miani for “the achievements and national and international titles that follow in his career with an interpretation of his role that leaves no doubt”. “I’m not saying much but if someone had put this picture in front of me 15 years ago, I would have called him crazy. The meeting with Italia Yachts was decisive,” commented Enzo as he stepped down from the stage. In 2021 IY 11.98 Scugnizza, with De Blasio at the helm, won the Italian and European ORC Championships, dominated the Tre Golfi overall, took second place at the Copa del Rey and won the Coppa Italia. Now in its 28th edition, the prize, devised by Alberto Acciari, represents one of the top moments of the year among those dedicated to sailing, and victory is by no means a foregone conclusion due to the very high level of the athletes selected.
